Why work with us

Who you’d be working with

ZuluLab is the website brand of Zulu Alpha Inc., a small engineering studio based in West Covina, California. We build websites, business software and automation for contractors, restaurants and growing businesses, and we run most of what we ship rather than handing it over and moving on.

Our three developers have 20, 22+ and 15+ years of experience in backend and data work, Java, and WordPress and PHP respectively. You deal directly with the people doing the work.

We let the live projects above speak for themselves. Client testimonials and project metrics will appear here only once the client has agreed to publish them. Our rates are published.

Where we work

West Covina based. Globally connected.

On-site work — Los Angeles area

WiFi and network installation means physical work: site surveys, cabling, mounting access points and racking hardware. Business networking covers the greater Los Angeles area; home WiFi and home PC repair cover roughly 40 miles around West Covina. Send us the address and we will confirm whether we cover it.

Remote work — US, Canada, Europe and the UK

Websites, custom software, mobile apps and AI automation are delivered remotely. Teams in Eastern and Western time zones extend our working day, and we agree communication hours with you per project.

How we build

AI-assisted development

We use AI tools to speed up coding, testing and documentation. Our developers stay responsible for technical decisions, code review, testing and delivery. This is how we work, separate from the AI automation we build for clients. If you would rather we did not use AI tooling on your project, we will scope it that way.

How we work

Our software development process

Four stages, with regular updates and working software at each milestone.

  1. 01

    Discover

We dig into your users, your data and your constraints. No assumptions. A short discovery phase produces a technical architecture and scope you can rely on.

  2. 02

    Design

System design before interface design. We map data flows, define APIs and prototype interactions — ensuring the experience is rooted in what’s technically sound.

  3. 03

    Build

Two-week sprints with regular updates and working software at each milestone. We write tests first and deploy to staging continuously.

  4. 04

    Ship & Scale

Staged deployment, performance benchmarking and an agreed post-launch support period. We stay on while the system settles into real use.

Pricing

USD $30–$100 per hour

$30–$100/hr depending on the type of work. We confirm your rate and scope before paid work begins.

$30/hr for maintenance, data processing and ongoing webmaster work (updates, content changes, monitoring); $100/hr for development, architecture and solution design, and collaborative project work. Third-party costs such as hosting, software subscriptions and hardware are separate. Network installation is normally quoted as a fixed price after the site survey.

Deadline guarantee: Before work starts, we agree the deadline with you in writing. If we miss that deadline through our own fault, you don’t pay. To keep the deadline, you provide requirements and complete your testing and feedback on time.

No obligation

Start with a free project analysis

Free initial consultation and scope estimate, with no obligation to proceed. Tell us what you want to build or improve and we’ll recommend next steps.

What to send

So the analysis is useful rather than generic, include:

  • Your business goal — what should be better once this is done
  • Your existing website or system, if there is one
  • The improvements or features you are asking for
  • Your desired timeline

We then agree the scope and give you an hourly estimate or a fixed-price quote. The analysis is a consultation and scope estimate, not an audit or implementation work.

Questions

Common questions

Where is ZuluLab based?

ZuluLab is based in West Covina, California, and serves greater Los Angeles. We serve clients in the US, Canada, Europe and the UK, and we schedule work across Eastern and Western time zones.

Do you travel for on-site work?

On-site work — WiFi and network installation, cabling, access point mounting and rack builds — is physical, so we deliver it in the Los Angeles area. Websites, custom software, mobile apps and AI automation are delivered remotely to clients in the US, Canada, Europe and the UK. Tell us where you are and we will confirm what we can cover.

What do you charge?

USD $30 to $100 per hour, depending on the type of work: $30/hr for maintenance, data processing and ongoing webmaster work (updates, content changes, monitoring); $100/hr for development, architecture and solution design, and collaborative project work. We confirm your rate and scope before any paid work begins. Some services, such as network installation after a site survey, are quoted as a fixed price instead.

Is the first conversation really free?

Yes. Send us your business goal, your existing website or system, the improvements you want, and your timeline. We review it and recommend next steps in writing, with no obligation to proceed. It is a review of what you send — not a security audit, a full architecture, or implementation work.

Do you use AI to write our code?

We use AI tools to accelerate coding, testing, and documentation, helping reduce repetitive work and improve delivery efficiency. Our team remains responsible for technical decisions, code review, testing, and delivery. It is a working method rather than something you buy, and it is separate from the AI automation products we build for clients. If you would prefer we did not use AI tooling on your project, tell us and we will scope it that way.

What have you actually built?

Construction Resource Management System, a job management system in daily production use at Tad's Construction; AI Assisted POS System for Restaurants, the digital menu serving Hearth & Grain; and the websites for Tad's Construction and Zulu Estate Media. Three of those are public — you can open them from our work pages and judge them directly.

How do we start?

Email zarni@zulualpha.net or call +1 626 509 0611. Include what you want to build or improve, anything it has to work with, and your timeline. We reply with whether we are a fit and what the next step looks like.

Do you work across time zones?

Yes. We are based in West Covina, California, and work with clients in the US, Canada, Europe and the UK. Teams in Eastern and Western time zones extend our working day, so work moves forward across more hours; we agree communication hours with you per project.

What happens if you miss a deadline?

Before work starts, we agree the deadline with you in writing. If we miss that deadline through our own fault, you don’t pay. To keep the deadline, you provide requirements and complete your testing and feedback on time.

Let’s build your project.

Email us with what you’re building, roughly when you need it, and anything it has to work with. We’ll reply with how we’d approach it.
